Scouting will allow for you to:

  • Join us for the activities we have planned for this year, including the high adventure . And let you plan and join next year's activities.
  • Make some of the best friends you'll ever make in your life! You will work with boys and men older and younger. But  you don't get kicked off the team or switch to another group ( unless you want to) or disband at the end of a year.
  • Go on camping trips to some of the best places. Even places where the average public is not allowed, like Philmont Scout Ranch, New Mexico, Florida sea Base, or Northern Tier.
  • Learn some very valuable skills that can help you in your future life!
  • Learn some skills that are just fun,
  • Learn to be in charge. Scouting is boy led
  • Be in charge. Scouting is boy  led, by scouts who learned how.
  • Have a credential to show the adult world that you can: be self reliant, can plan,  can deal with difficult circumstances, can be responsible, and can show integrity and can be in charge.

Scouting is about having fun outdoors and   learning skills that you'd never learn in any other youth group. Sure you learn how to tie knots but you also learn First Aid, Outdoor Skills and Navigational Skills. Want to kayak or climb rocks or rappel or canoe or fly-fish ? You get a chance to do these things in scouts inexpensively.  It's all about learning how to survive, not just in the woods but in the real world as well.

Teamwork

Scouting is  about learning the things you want to learn in a small group. Maybe  just you and another kid and two adults. Learn at a pace you want.

Scouts can get opportunities not available to other boys because adults know that scouts have committed themselves to developing their character.

Since 1910, these principles have been taught in an atmosphere of recreation and fun, which allow young people to develop self-confidence, leadership and moral character. More and more men, trained as Scouts, are taking their places in today's world as responsible adult leaders. Men, who earned badges as Scouts, sit on the Supreme Court and in the chambers of Congress. Others hold important offices in our government, business and industry. Most of the members of Congress were Scouts, as well as most of the astronauts who have walked on the moon. The long list of famous Scouts includes:

John F. Kennedy President of the U.S. Boy Scout
Neil A. Armstrong First person to set foot on the Moon Eagle Scout
Gerald Ford President of the U.S. Eagle Scout
Steven Spielberg Film Director Eagle Scout
J. Willard Marriott, Jr. President of Marriott Corporation Eagle Scout
